Experience Driving Cloudect
My journey into the world of technology began in the mid-2000s at Dublin City University, where I earned a degree in Information & Communications Engineering. From early on, it was clear that technology was more than a profession – it was my passion. This early foundation set the stage for a career dedicated to solving complex IT challenges.
After University I started my career with one of Ireland’s largest logistics operations, working across a 22-site Linux-powered supply chain. This fast-paced, just-in-time logistics environment gave me hands-on experience in everything from Linux, software development, and SQL databases to industrial printers and voice-picking systems – sharpening my problem-solving skills under pressure.
I later joined Deloitte, where I led incident escalations in their Cloud Managed Services division. It was here I realised my fondness for root cause analysis. As a lead engineer in Cloud Managed Services, I thrived on the challenging problems - finding the needle in the haystack. My role later evolved into solution architecture, where I designed cloud solutions for clients including in highly regulated sectors like healthcare and finance, working across the entire cloud lifecycle.
I would eventually enter management where I helped lead the development of Deloitte’s next generation of cloud engineers.
Most recently, I served as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for TikTok, leading a team of SREs on "Project Clover", a massive €12 billion initiative for data sovereignty in Europe. During this time I got to work with one of the world's largest social media apps, in one of the biggest infrastructure examples that exist currently. The sheer scale of the operation required to deliver video content to over 1 billion users whilst maintaining uptime truly is remarkable.
With this experience behind me, I founded Cloudect to address a challenge – complex systems, often having evolved over time and changing hands multiple times, leaving the current owners perplexed when something doesn't work as expected. Cloudect was created as a focused consultancy to tackle exactly these kinds of “hard problems” – to bring clarity, stability, and long-term resilience to cloud infrastructure.
Our mission is simple: to help your cloud infrastructure become something that enables your business, not hold it back. Whether you’re struggling with an underperforming system, a mystery outage, or the need for a long-term architecture rethink – Cloudect is here to help.
